So what is the "No Dinner Diet"?

Well the name of the diet pretty much tells us, so not much guessing is needed here.

It is basically eat like you usually do but stop eating anything after 5:00 p.m., then drink only water until the next day.

I believe Oprah Winfrey inspired this idea.  It's been quite a few years ago when on one of her shows, Oprah promoted the  "do not eat after 7 p.m. diet" as a way to lose weight.   And you should only drink water until the next day.

Then of course people wanted to lose more weight and in a shorter amount of time and it was suggested to stop eating at 6 p.m. and eventually 5 p.m.

I had to try this diet to see if it worked and how it would make me feel, so I first started off with Oprah's challenge not to eat anything after 7 p.m. 

This really wasn't much of a challenge unless you are used to eating supper around or after 7 o'clock.  Just don't snack in the evening and drink only water if you get thirsty.

Then the bigger challenge was to stop eating at 5 o'clock.  This part of the diet can be difficult as my family usually eats around 6, but I stuck to my guns and finished my last meal of the day just before the 5 o'clock dead line.

After doing this diet for 10 days, I must admit it works very well.

Here's Why the No Dinner Diet Works so Well:

When you only drink water after 5 o'clock you will reduce your evening calories.

You also let your body fast and your digestive system rest until the next day.  This is so important if you want to lose weight.

Fasting (at anytime) relieves the liver, and we all know that when the liver is relieved of toxins it automatically uses its strength for weight loss by burning fat.

Another big plus was that my stomach felt leaner.  I mean it actually feels like your stomach shrinks a little bit. 

Then you notice that you can't seem to eat the same amount of food.  Your portion sizes become a little smaller as the days go buy.  I guess you just get used to eating less because you're fasting from 5 o'clock until the next morning.

And the biggest plus is yes, you actually lose weight.

Of course if you want to accelerate your weight loss then try to avoid fatty or sugary junk foods and stick more with fruits, vegetables and lean sources of protein.  Also avoid overeating, when you feel full, stop eating.

With these two added efforts, your weight loss will happen quicker.

One good thing about "the no dinner diet" is that if you choose to do this plan during the holidays or while on vacation, you can enjoy the extra indulging usually without gaining any additional weight which is a definite plus.
